Adana is located on the banks of the River Seyhan and 30 km inland from the Mediterranean Sea in central Anatolia, it is the fifth biggest city in Turkey with a population of over 1, 5 million.
Adana is a modern city it is not known as a tourist destination, however there are a few sites of interest in the surrounding countryside. Adana is an agricultural and industrial town. The town is divided by the river into the old and the new part. The old part consists of narrow, labyrinthine streets where cars, scooters and people have to fight their way through. The new part holds wide avenues, modern offices and shopping centers. There are two ports Botas Port and Toros Fertilizer Factory Port, both serving international ships carrying petrol and freight.
